Kioku - Privacy Policy

The short version

Kioku has no server of its own. It talks to AniList and to nobody else. It
collects nothing, sends nothing anywhere for analysis, and has no account
system beyond the AniList account you already have.

What is stored, and where

Everything below lives only on your device:

None of it is transmitted to BLN Forge. There is nowhere for it to go: no
Kioku server exists.

The access token and your settings are excluded from Android's cloud backup
and device-transfer, so a restore onto a new phone does not carry your
AniList credential with it. You sign in again instead.

What leaves your device

Requests to AniList (graphql.anilist.co) and its image CDN, carrying:

  • your access token, so AniList knows which account is asking;
  • whatever the screen needs — a search term you typed, a list entry you
    edited, a post you wrote.

This is the app doing what you asked it to. AniList's own handling of that
data is governed by their privacy policy: https://anilist.co/terms.

What is not collected

  • No analytics or telemetry of any kind.
  • No crash or performance reporting.
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifier.
  • No third-party SDK that collects anything. The app's only dependencies are
    Flutter's own path_provider, shared_preferences, flutter_localizations
    and Google Play Billing.
  • No location, contacts, camera, microphone, files or device identifiers. The
    app requests two permissions: INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (the
    latter is pulled in by Google Play Billing).

Donations

Kioku offers optional in-app donations. They unlock nothing — every feature is
available without them.

Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. Kioku never sees your name,
card, billing address or email; it receives only whether a purchase succeeded.
Google's handling of the transaction is covered by their own policies.

Children

Kioku is a client for AniList, which is not directed at children under 13. The
app collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

  • Sign out inside Kioku deletes the access token and the entire cache from
    the device.
  • Uninstalling removes everything the app has stored.
  • Your AniList account and its contents are unaffected by either, and are
    deleted through AniList itself.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be noted by the date at the top, and the
updated policy published at the same address.
